Indonesia is the only G20 member state in South East Asia that has the largest economy in the region and is classified as a newly industrialized country, no longer considered as a developing country but as a Least-Developed Country (2020).
The country has in 2020 the 7th largest GDP (by PPP: purchasing power parity); and 16th largest GDP (by nominal), thus, it offers a great potential to venture any kind of business, of which the economic structure (2018) shows 43.4% services, 39.7% industries and 12.8% agriculture.
Aside from being a member of G20, Indonesia is also a member of WTO (1995), AFTA, IJ-EPA, ASEAN-AUS-NZ, ASEAN-China, ASEAN-Korea, ASEAN-India. Currently, AFTA policy is pursuing lower intra-regional tariff between member-states through CEPT (Common Effective Preferential Tariffs) Scheme which requires all members to set the level of tariffs between 0%-5%.
During the last decade, the inflation rate is relatively stable with downward tendency, the annual growth stays at the range of 4%-6% as a result of the improvement in banking sector and domestic consumption.
And as of 2019, only 9.41% of the population lives below the poverty line, and the open unemployment rate stays at 5.28% (2019). The national foreign exchange reserves has shown a steady upward trend in the last decade and currently stays at more than $135 billion (2012.12).
